Men Shouldn't Sing is New Zealand's first independent feature length sci-fi/musical film. Made possible by more than ten thousand hours of volunteered time, it promises to not only redefine what can be achieved on a low budget, but also to invent a unique genre, making it another first for New Zealand's innovative film community. Synopsis: A mad scientist (Dr. Lloyd-Menkin) invents a computer chip which sits inside a human's neck and is attached to the brain. It is triggered by heightened emotions - and when it is triggered, it forces its host to break into song and dance about what they are feeling! After a failed test run on 12 subjects (who turned into an army of tap-dancing zombies), Dr. Lloyd-Menkin rethinks his design and conducts a test on 8 more subjects, unwillingly snatched from their homes and placed in underground confinement. While the music they sing is enjoyable - recorded with a stunning 50 piece orchestra - Lloyd-Menkin's 2nd batch of musical chips are still faulty and are fatally dangerous!moreless
