Movie Summary

Director:
George Armitage
Released:
1990
Rating:
R
Miami Blues is an unpredictable crime drama about an ex-convict that moves to Miami and tries to forge a new life. Out of prison and off the plane to Miami to start anew, tough guy criminal Frederick J. Frenger Jr.'s (Alec Baldwin) new path doesn't start off on the right foot. He accidentally kills a Hare Krishna man, and being suddenly thrust into criminal activity has Frenger back to his deviant ways. Hot on his trail is grizzled and worn out detective Sgt. Hoke Mosely (Fred Ward), who is charmingly indifferent to finding his man until Frenger shows up to beat up the officer and steal his identity. From there Frenger revs up the race back into a life of crime, using Mosely's badge to facilitate his dealings. But when he meets the lovely prostitute Susie Waggoner (Jennifer Jason Leigh) who wants to settle down and live the straight and narrow, only time will tell if Frenger can cut it in a normal life for good. George Armitage directs this unique film that is part thriller, part comedy.moreless
