Movie Summary

Director:
Nora Ephron
Released:
1996
Rating:
PG

Michael is the cult favorite 1996 fantasy comedy from romantic comedy specialist Nora Ephron (You've Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, Julia and Julia, When Harry Met Sally). A cynical reporter, greedy tabloid owner and a fake paranormal expert check out the wild tip that an archangel is living with a little old lady, that might be as unstable as her story sounds. It turns out that an angel really is visiting earth. John Travolta (Saturday Night Fever, Blow Out, The Taking of Pelham 123, Look Who's Talking) plays archangel Michael; although charming, he is also untidy, a little over weight, seedy and womanizing. Heaven sent? Featuring an all star cast including Willam Hurt (Broadcast News, A History of Violence, The Incredible Hulk, Robin Hood), Andie McDowell (Multiplicity, Groundhog Day), Robert Pastorelli (Eraser) and Bob Hoskins (Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, Enemy at the Gates, Mermaids, Hook).
