Mickey One is a 1965 drama starring Warren Beatty in a stylized and surreal film about a stand-up comedian who escapes the wrath of the Italian Mafia in Detroit, Michigan by fleeing to Chicago, Illinois, where he tries to find a place for himself without attracting too much attention. Beatty plays the comic, who adopts the name Mickey One to disguise himself. He lays low in Chicago, staying away from public performance for fear that the Mafia will find out and hunt him down. As time passes, he worries less about the mob, realizing he doesn't know why they'd be upset with him to begin with. He wants to finally continue his once-promising stand-up career, but first he'll have to square things with the mob. Trouble is, he doesn't have any idea who he should talk to, and his quest to clear his name leads him into some bizarre and dangerous places. Mickey One is a cult classic, revitalized in the mid-90s and celebrated for Beatty's incredible performance.
