Miranda is a 1948 British comedy directed by Ken Annakin. Dr. Paul Marton (Griffith Jones) heads off on a trip to the coast to go fishing and ends up catching Miranda (Glynis Johns), a beautiful, alluring mermaid who takes him prisoner in a cavern under the sea. Miranda insists that she will let Paul go if he will take her to see London, so he disguises her as a wheelchair-bound patient and takes her to stay at his home in the city. Playful Miranda causes a lot of trouble in London by flirting with different men, including Charles (David Tomlinson), who is Paul's chauffeur, and Nigel (John McCallum), the fiance of Paul's neighbor. As Miranda arouses suspicions from Paul's wife Clare (Googie Withers) and garners jealousy from the wives in the neighborhood, Paul must try to keep her safe. This classic black-and-white film features wonderful special effects and plenty of hilarious, laugh-out loud fun for the entire family.moreless
