Mission: Impossible II is a 2000 adventure film directed by John Woo. It is the second of a series of movies based on the television series Mission Impossible. Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt, an agent for IMF (Impossible Missions Force), an unofficial branch of the CIA. Hunt's old friend, Dr. Vladamir Nekhorovich (Rade ''erbed''ija), is killed en route to the United States by someone posing as Hunt. IMF believes that former IMF agent Sean Ambrose (Dougray Scott) is behind the incident, and calls Hunt into action. His mission is to retrieve a virus, Chimera, and its cure called Bellerophon, developed by Dr. Nekhorovich. He must recruit the beautiful thief Nyah Nordoff-Hall (Thandie Newton) to assist him and the rest of his team, pilot Billy Baird (John Polson) and computer expert Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames). The team then travels to Sydney, Australia, to gather what information they can about Ambrose. When Nyah becomes infected with the disease, it becomes a race against time to not only destroy the virus before international terrorists get their hands, but also to find the cure and save her life.moreless
