Mojave Phone Booth is a dramatization of the real-life mystery and obsession surrounding a lone telephone booth in the Mojave Desert. The real phone booth was setup in the 1960s at the intersection of two dirt roads to serve the otherwise isolated residents. In 1997, the phone became an internet phenomenon prompting fans to call the booth or even journey to the remote location and wait for an incoming call. This film depicts four such visitors each hoping to connect with a stranger on the line. Beth (Annabeth Gish) is a troubled thirty-something with a mixed up love-life and a car that somebody keeps breaking into. Mary (Tinarie Van Wyk-Loots) is in a desperate situation and considering prostitution. Alex (Christine Elise) has a lover who believes she is possessed by aliens. Richard (Robert Romanus) has recently attempted suicide. Though these four stories are presented as separate chapters, each traveler connects to the same caller, Greta (Shani Wallis), who unwittingly becomes the phantom counselor of this desert confessional.moreless
