Mondays in the Sun is a 2003 award-winning Spanish film written and directed by Fernando Le''n de Aranoa. A group of six shipyard workers are now unemployed men in Vigo, Spain. Ever since losing work, they can be found killing time at La Naval. Rico (Joaqu''n Climent) does have his bar, and despite the impoverished conditions they face, as a group they remain strong and functional. Some of them have wives, or children, and the ones that don't are still part of the family. Amador (Celso Bugallo) and Jose (Luis Tosar) help hold the family together, but everybody plays their part. One man will fill out job applications; one man will drink; one man will be righteous; one will be wrong. The captivating struggle of these men is a brilliant display of chemistry and teamwork, and how if we cooperate with our surroundings, many more things may be endured.
