PG-13
Monkeybone is a 2001 fantasy film in which comic writer Stu Miley (Brendan Fraser) finds himself trapped in his own imaginary comic world, Downtown, after falling into a coma due to a car accident. Stu is the creator of America's most disturbing comic, Monkeybone. Stu's main character is the famous trouble-making simian monkey named Monkeybone. After finding himself stranded in this other world, Stu must find a way back to his own world and deal with Monkeybone's (voice by John Turturro) antics along the way. During the journey through Downtown, Stu realizes that Monkeybone has another agenda after a visit with Death (Whoopi Goldberg). Monkeybone ends up tricking him and returns to Stu's body in the real world. This movie uses real life acting along with stop-motion animation to give it a fantastical appeal. Also appearing with Brendan Fraser is Bridget Fonda as Dr. Julie Elroy and Rose McGowan as Miss Kitty.
