PG-13
Morgan's Ferry is a crime drama about prison convicts disrupting the life of a hermit, starring Billy Zane ("Titanic") and Kelly McGillis ("Top Gun"). In the 1950s Deep South, spinster Vonnie Carpenter (Kelly McGillis) lives an isolated existence in a ramshackle home since her father's death years ago. Three prison escapees invade her home, looking for money and food to continue their journey to freedom. Sam (Billy Zane), Monroe (Henry Rollins), and Darcy (Johnny Galecki) have broken out of a Louisiana prison farm and need refuge so that Darcy can heal an injured leg, and they hide until the local ferry comes arrives. To the surprise of the convicts, the eccentric Vonnie refuses to be intimidated or leave her home. When the brutish Monroe tries to have his way with her, the more refined Sam protects her, which begins an unlikely romantic connection between Vonnie and Sam. Sam Pillsbury directs this 2001 drama.
