Mother, Jugs and Speed

Movie Summary

Director:
Peter Yates
Released:
1976
Rating:
PG
Mother, Jugs & Speed is a 1976 comedy starring Bill Cosby, Harvey Keitel, and Raquel Welch in a dark and funny story about the employees of a privately-owned ambulance company working in Los Angeles and trying to survive both the competitive world of contract EMTs and the dangerous antics of their deranged co-workers. Bill Cosby plays "Mother" Tucker, a talented driver and EMT known for his abrasive personality and aggressive wit. Welch plays Jennifer, the well-endowed switchboard operator the boys affectionately call "Jugs." After a position opens up for a new shotgun rider, the company hires disgraced ex-cop Tony Malatesta, who quickly earns the nickname "Speed." The three misfits form a tentative friendship as they race around the city trying to save the sick and injured without coming to too much harm themselves. Mother, Jugs & Speed is an off-beat comedy featuring top-notch comic acting and co-starring Bruce Davison and Allen Garfield.
