Directed by Richard Lang The Mountain Men is a 1980 American Western film starring Charlton Heston, Brian Keith, Dan Ackroyd, and Victoria Racimo. Henry Frapp (Keith) is a curmudgeonly old mountain man who works as a trapper and is good friends with fellow trapper Bill Tyler (Heston). Together, the two men battle their way through the Wild West as they survive the final days of the fur-trapping era. They encounter wild animals, vengeful Native Americans, and traders willing to sacrifice their lives for a good deal. When Henry is attacked by Heavy Eagle (Stephen Macht), a Blackfoot warrior seeking revenge on behalf of his wife Running Moon (Racimo), he barely manages to avoid being scalped. Heavy Eagle continues to hunt Henry, however, and the climax of the film is an epic battle between Blackfoot warriors and Henry and Bill. The Mountain Men was not well received by critics and was not a success at the box office.
