Mountain Rhythm is a 1939 western film starring Gene Autry and Smiley Burnette. The film follows Gene (playing himself) and his friend Frog Millhouse (Smiley Burnette) as they head to Pueblo Springs Valley to save Frog's aunt and surrounding ranchers from the evil Cavanaugh (Jack Pennick), as he plans to turn all of their land into one big resort business. Gene rounds up everyone's cattle and sells them to raise enough money to buy the entire plot of land from the government, but Cavanaugh spreads gossip of finding gold, which sends every cowboy around to the high hills. Now defenseless against the force of Cavanaugh and his ruthless men, Gene seeks the help of two befriended hobos that offer to gather-up all the people that they know to help take on the mighty Cavanaugh. In the end they are the ones who end up winning the day, saving the land, bringing Cavanaugh to justice, and ultimately finding themselves a new and permanent place to call home. The film additionally stars June Storey, Maude Eburne, Ferris Taylor, Walter Fenner, Jack Pennick, Hooper Atchley, Bernard Suss, Edward Cassidy, Jack Ingram, Tom London, Roger Williams, and Frankie Marvin.moreless
