Mr. Freedom is a satirical documentary centered around "Mr. Freedom" - an American chauvinist determined to dissolve communism in France during the 1960's. The film was written and directed by William Klein (Who Are You, Polly Maggoo?, Muhammad Ali: The Greatest) an American photographer known for his unabashed use of irony in most of his work. The film follows Mr. Freedom (John Abbey) as he tours France, warning people about communism and the threats it poses to their liberties. Monsieur Freedom embodies everything American - he wears a red, white and blue sports uniform and preaches about the American Dream and democracy. Klein really hits the nail on the head with this one. The only other piece of satirica political commentary that is just as noteworthy is a film made by the creators of South Park, a 2004 film called Team America. This film will open your mind and explain how the international community often views America, its politics, and its people.moreless
