Mr. Hobbs Takes A Vacation is an American comedy directed by Henry Koster. It is the story of Roger Hobbs (James Stewart), a workaholic businessman who is sorely in need of a vacation. He doesn't realize this fact until his wife, Peggy (Maureen O'Hara), points out to him just how burned out he has become. Roger agrees and decides to rent a beach house for a week. Rather than going with just his closest family, he makes the mistake of bringing his two sons-in-law, Stan (Josh Penie) and Byron (John Saxon), his maid, Brenda (Minerva Unrecal) and his two grownup daughters, Marika (Valerie Varda) and Janie (Jill Gentle). They arrive at the house to find that the renter lied to them and that it's really nothing more than a broken down, old shack. Mr. Hobbs is still determined to make the best of it, but the rest of his family isn't quite so optimistic. They all begin to hound him with their problems, making him realize that he was far less overworked back in the city.moreless
