Mr. Sardonicus is a 1961 horror film starring Ronald Lewis as Sir Robert Cargrave, a London physician who calls on the mysterious Baron Sardonicus, a wealthy man with a terrible condition. After digging up his father's grave while searching for a buried fortune, the Baron's jaw cemented into a painful and unmoving smile. The corners of his mouth stretch painfully far up the sides of his face, exposing his eerie clenched teeth. Sardonicus can only eat by pressing food through the gaps in his teeth, and he's had to learn how to speak without moving his jaw. Dr. Cargrave agrees to help the Baron, but the painful condition has made the Baron vengeful and mean. The doctor's experiments yield no improvements to the Baron's conditions. As hope for a cure dwindles, Sir Robert Cargrave will have to come up with something fast if he wants to escape the wrath of the insane Baron. Mr. Sardonicus is produced and directed by William Castle, who called the film one of his favorites to make.
