Mr. Saturday Night is a dramatic comedy released in 1992. This film is the directorial debut of Billy Crystal. Crystal also co-wrote and starred in the movie as Buddy Young Jr. Buddy Young Jr. (Crystal) is a fictious comedian, who has a painfully slow rise to the top in his comedy career. The slow pace his career took was not based on his talent but mostly his bad behavior. He owes the majority of his success to his brother, Stan (David Paymer). Despite repeated warnings from those he loved the most, Buddy's stubbornness leads to the sudden demise of his career. His pattern of bad choices and resistance to others advice also leads to alienation from his family. Now as an old man, Buddy is given another shot, most likely his last shot, to revive his miserably failed career. This opportunity makes Buddy re-examine his career and personal ups and downs in his life. Ultimately, Buddy may have an opportunity to revive more than his career, but can he find the strength to do it?moreless
