Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont is a 2005 English comedy drama film from Claremont Films, directed by Dan Ireland. Based on Elizabeth Taylor's 1971 novel of the same name, Mrs. Palfrey at the Claremont is the story of the curious friendship between an elderly retiree and a young writer. Mrs. Palfrey (Joan Plowright) is an elderly woman with little left in her life, after being effectively abandoned by her family at a London retirement home. When a twist of fate, and a well-timed accident, crosses her path with that of young writer Ludovic Meyer (Rupert Friend), she finds a new light in her life. Over their time together, the two realize that, despite the large difference in age, they have uncommoly much in common. Ludovic has so much to learn from Mrs. Palfrey, but'believe it or not'she has equally much to learn from him. Mrs. Palfrey at The Claremont is a touching film for audiences of multiple generations.
