Much Ado About Nothing is the 1993 cinematic mounting of William Shakespeare's classic play, directed by master thespian Kenneth Branagh (Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Henry VIII, Wild Wild West). Set in a 14th-century Tuscan villa in the village of Messina, Sicily, the plot concerns young lovers Hero and Claudio (Kate Beckinsale ' Underworld, Pearl Harbor, The Aviator - and Robert Sean Leonard ' Dead Poets Society, Swing Kids, House, Tape), due to be married soon, trying to match-make Benedick (Branagh) and Beatrice (Emma Thompson, Sense and Sensibility, Junior, Stranger than Fiction). However, the evil Don John (Keanu Reeves, Speed, Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Gift, Point Break) has a plot of his own which will break up the engaged couple by making it look as though Hero has been unfaithful.
