Much Ado About Nothing is the 1993 cinematic mounting of William Shakespeare's classic play, directed by master thespian Kenneth Branagh (Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, Henry VIII, Wild Wild West). Set in a 14th-century Tuscan villa in the village of Messina, Sicily, the plot concerns young lovers Hero and Claudio (Kate Beckinsale ' Underworld, Pearl Harbor, The Aviator - and Robert Sean Leonard ' Dead Poets Society, Swing Kids, House, Tape), due to be married soon, trying to match-make Benedick (Branagh) and Beatrice (Emma Thompson, Sense and Sensibility, Junior, Stranger than Fiction). However, the evil Don John (Keanu Reeves, Speed, Bram Stoker's Dracula, The Gift, Point Break) has a plot of his own which will break up the engaged couple by making it look as though Hero has been unfaithful. Also starring Denzel Washington (Unstoppable, Glory, The Pelican Brief, Inside Man, Virtuosity, Training Day, American Gangster, The Taking of Pelham 123, D'j' vu) as Don Pedro.
