Murder! is a 1930 crime mystery film directed by the legendary Alfred Hitchcock. The film follows the aspiring theatre actress Diana Baring (played by Norah Baring) as she is found by the police standing over the corpse of a fellow actress. All the circumstantial proof points to her as the murderer and so she is arrested. She claims amnesia though, saying she remembers nothing about what happened. Her trial ends with her getting convicted of the murder. However the juror John Menier (played by Herbert Marshall) suspects that the actual murderer was Diana's boyfriend, an acrobat who wears dresses. This is an early talkie and very slow in its pacing but none the less is still an interesting film. Alfred Hitchcock made it when he still lived and worked in England. The film was based on a novel by Clemence Dane and is one of the only times made a whodunit film in which the viewer is unsure who really committed the crime until the end of the film.moreless
