My Big Fat Greek Wedding is a 2002 American comedy brought to you by Joel Zwick. It is one of the most successful comedies ever made. The movie centers around a thirty-something-year-old Greek-American woman named Toula (Nia Vardalos) who thus far, has had a very uneventful romantic life with no prospect of ever getting married. Her situation is more stressful for her parents than it is for her. They insist she return to the old country where she is sure to find someone she can settle down with, but Toula doesn't want to leave the city of Chicago. The earth shakes when a tall, handsome man named Ian (John Corbett) walks into her restaurant one day. Unfortunately, Toula cannot muster the courage to speak to him, and realizes it is time for a little self-improvement. She quits her job at the family restaurant, and joins a travel agency, among making several other changes. Toula unexpectedly runs into Ian again, as though it were fate. This time, she speaks to him, and he asks her out on a date. Ian and Toula begin seeing each other, and finally, one day he asks her to marry him. Toula says yes but now she faces an even bigger issue: the wedding which must accommodate her loud, working-class, obnoxious family and Ian's quiet, upper-class family. Be sure to check out this classic comedy!
