Released in 2006, My Chemical Romance: Life On the Murder Scene Video Diary documents the journey of alternative rock band My Chemical, Romance. The DVD video diary was released along with a CD featuring live tracks from the band and another DVD featuring live performances from the band. The video diary depicts the journey of lead singer/songwriter Gerard Way, bassist Mikey Way, rhythm guitarist Frank Iero, lead guitarist Ray Toro, and drummer Bob Bryar, as they start performing and as they gain prominence in the music world. The video tells the tale of the band's formation in New Jersey, and the troubles they encountered when they first began touring. A main focus is lead singer Gerard Way's personal troubles and alcohol addiction, which was a big problem in the bands early years. The film takes the audience from the bands first live performances in front of small crowds, to their signing to a major label and achievement of global success.
