My Favorite Blonde is a classic 1942 comedy caper starring Bob Hope as a befuddled vaudeville performer unexpectedly caught up in World War II espionage. Entertainer Larry Haines (Bob Hope) and his penguin Percy are headed to Hollywood hoping they finally will get their big break. Instead, they become entangled with British secret agent Karen Bentley (Madeline Carroll), when a ring containing top-secret military details comes into their possession. Larry soon finds himself on a cross-country trek with the beautiful blonde spy who is on assignment to deliver the information. Then Nazi agent Stephanie Runick (Gale Sondergard) and her cohorts frame him for murder in a plot to steal the ring. Larry and Karen must run from the authorities and the enemy spies, and attempt to pose as a famous therapist and his wife to evade detection. Director Sidney Lanfield blends Hope's trademark self-deprecating wit with a suspenseful wartime tale for an entertaining and family friendly comedy.
