My Fuhrer is a black comedy released in 2007 and directed by Dani Levy. In the final years of World War 2, Adolf Hitler has become reclusive and depressed because he realizes that the Third Reich's hopes of victory are quickly vanishing. Clad in a yellow track suit, the melancholy leader lurks in his office all day and refuses to make public appearances. In a desperate bid to bolster German morale, Joseph Goebbels (Sylvester Groth) sends for his old acting coach, the Jewish Adolf Grunbaum (Ulrich M''he). Grunbaum is extracted from a concentration camp, cleaned up, and packed off to Berlin to motivate the Fuhrer and pull him out of his depressive slump. Grunbaum is thrilled to have been released from the concentration camp and reunited with his wife, but must struggle with many conflicting emotions. Alone with Hitler for many hours each day, Grunbaum considers an assassination plot and is torn between his desire for vengeance on behalf of Hitler's victims and his personal desire for freedom and family life.moreless
