My Girl 2, the sequel to My Girl, is a 1994 comedy/drama directed by Howard Zieff. In 1974, two years after the events of the first movie, Vada Sultenfuss (Anna Chlumsky) has just turned 13 years old. She is older, wiser, and ready to gain some independence from her overprotective father, Harry (Dan Aykroyd). During her spring break from middle school, Vada must write an essay about somebody she has never met, so she chooses her mother, who died giving birth to her. Since she has no memories of her mother, she convinces her hesitant father to allow her to fly to her mother's hometown of Los Angeles to stay with Uncle Phil (Richard Masur) and Phil's stepson Nick (Austin O'Brien). As Vada forms a romantic relationship with Nick, who is helping her do the research, she also begins to unravel a secret in her mother's life that may change the course of her life.
