My Life as a Dog is a coming-of-age drama about a young boy who goes to live with a relative. Ingemar (Anton Glanzelius) is sent to live with his Uncle Gunnar (Tomas von Bromssen) after his terminally ill mother decides that she can't handle his poor behavior anymore. Despite his unhappiness about being sent away, Ingemar quickly bonds with his uncle. He also meets a young girl named Saga (Melinda Kinnaman) and an eccentric old man named Mr. Arvidsson (Didrik Gustavsson). Eventually, Ingemar goes back to live with his mother, but after she dies he is sent back to live with his uncle again. When he returns, he learns that Mr. Arvidsson has died and that both Saga and another girl now like him. This leads to a fight between her and Saga and a later fight between Saga and Ingemar. Overwhelmed with grief, Ingemar isolates himself from everyone and tries to come to grips with all of the pain that he has had to endure in such a short life. My Life as a Dog is a film about loss and how people learn to accept it.moreless
