My Mother's Castle is a 1990 French film directed by Yves Robert and starring Philippe Caubere, Nathalie Roussel, Therese Liotard, and Julie Ciamaca. The film tells the story of Marcel (Ciamaca) and his family as they vacation in the Provence. On the regular walk he must do to venture into Marseilles, Marcel meets Isabelle (Julie Timmerman). She invites him to her house and he meets her father and mother and the two play together. Isabelle, however, is a tad eccentric and when she puts a grasshopper in Marcel's mouth, his father forbids him from playing with her anymore. Marcel and his family are then offered a chance to take a short cut into town, but in order to do so they must trespass on others' property. While at first Marcel's father is hesitant, the saved time allows them to accomplish much more, so he accepts the key that allows them to take the shortcut. The following season, however, Marcel and his family are caught for their deviant ways and must answer to an angry neighbor.moreless
