My Own Love Song is a road-trip movie raised to the level of art. It's about three damaged souls on a journey together. Jane (Ren''e Zellweger) is a former singer who was paralyzed from the waist down in a car accident and now refuses to sing. Joey (Forest Whitaker) suffers from delusions of being able to talk to angels, but is an unfailingly supportive friend to Jane. Billie (Madeline Zima) is looking for her husband, who has disappeared without a word. All three of them are searching for something on their road trip: Billie's husband, Joey's angels, and Jane's son, whom she gave up for adoption after her accident. The road is long and winding, and filled with a host of zany obstacles -- exploding cars, mistaken arrests, and a cake laced with psychedelic drugs -- but there is always hope that the trio will find what they're looking for.
