My Sex Life... How I Got Into An Argument is a witty 1996 French comedy about a young professor at a crossroads in his life. Nearing 30, Paul Deladus (Mathieu Amalric) still cannot commit completely to his job or a woman in his life. He teaches at a Paris university, but can never seem to finish his doctorate so that he can become a full-fledged professor. He also juggles three very different women. He and Esther (Emmanuelle Devos) have been on-again/off-again for 10 years. His university colleague Val''rie (Jeanne Balibar) is emotionally exhausting. Sylvia (Marianne Denicourt) happens to be engaged to his best friend. More than anything, Paul wants to avoid the despair of his father's existence, but also cannot seem to begin what he calls his "life as a man." Director Arnaud Desplechin elegantly mixes the romantic games with philosophical musings between a charming set of characters on the brink of life decisions.
