Movie Summary

Director:
Bob Clark
Released:
1994
Rating:
PG
My Summer Story is family film directed by Bob Clark that follows what happened to the young Ralphie Parker (Kieran Culkin) after the classic A Christmas Story and his wish for a Red Ryder BB gun. Now summer, the Parker family has new quests to follow as Ralphie struggles to become the best player against bully Lug Ditka (Whit Hertford) in a competitive game of tops while his father (Charles Grodin) continues his battle against their neighbors, the Bumpuses, and their legion of Bloodhounds. His mother (Mary Steenburgen) has set her sights on getting something other than a gravy boat in her collectible hobby club at the local cinema. As Ralphie continues to work with his family quirks, he also waits eagerly for the chance to join his dad's boys club when he gets to go on the yearly fishing trip. With narration by Jean Shepherd, My Summer Story is also known as It Runs in the Family and is a whimsical look at a young boy's life.moreless
