Mystery Men is a 1999 action comedy film based on a story from the Flaming Carrot Comics. In Champion City, Captain Amazing (Greg Kinnear) is the most popular superhero around. He is also known as Lance Hoyt, a billionaire lawyer who sets free super-villains he captures in order to keep his sponsorships. Casanova Frankenstein (Geoffrey Rush) is released and plans to use a doomsday device. Aside from Captain Amazing, there are also some wannabe heroes like Mr. Furious (Ben Stiller), The Shoveler (William H. Macy), and The Blue Raja (Hank Azaria) who are not as super as they would like to think that they are. Mr. Furious sees Casanova Frankenstein kidnap Captain Amazing and decides to bring together a team to rescue him. He gets Invisible Boy (Kel Mitchell), The Spleen (Paul Reubens), and The Bowler (Janeane Garofalo) to join and the set off to break into Casanova Frankenstein's mansion and rescue Captain Amazing.
