Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie is a 1996 comedic science-fiction film based on the popular TV series. The movie opens with the show's human host, Mike Nelson, and his robot companions, Crow T. Robot (Trace Beaulieu), and Tom Servo (Kevin Murphy). The three friends find themselves in the clutches of evil Dr. Clayton Forrester (Trace Beaulieu). He forces the three to watch the worst movie in cinematic history, using Mike, Crow and Tom as test subjects. If Dr. Forrester's plans succeed, he will use the movie to torment the entire human race and eventually take over the planet. The movie is "This Island Earth," a science-fiction disaster from 1955. The only way that Mike and his robot friends can hope to save the world is by destroying Dr. Forrester's confidence. If they can mock the movie ruthlessly enough, Dr. Forrester might start doubting his own plans. Mike, Crow and Tom set out to make fun of a terrible movie and save the planet, but they still do not know if they will succeed.moreless
