Nanny McPhee is a 2005 American family comedy, starring Colin Firth and Emma Thompson in a fantastical story of family, love, and good behavior. It is 19th century England and Nanny McPhee (Emma Thompson) is a magical governess who appears at the door of the troubled widower, Mr. Brown (Colin Firth), right when he needs her most. His seven children are misbehaving, rebuking a whole string of seventeen governesses that come their way, and financial stresses force him to woo the repulsive Mrs. Selma Quickly (Celia Imrie), a local three-time widow with a taste for garish clothing and a quite vulgar manner. Mrs. Quickly does not love the children and is interested merely in the sensual benefits of having a new man and the material benefits of the wealth that Mr. Brown is to inherit if he makes a marriage within the short time frame allotted him by the family’s aged benefactress. Will Nanny McPhee’s magic, and the good morals and manners that she teaches the children, be enough to avert disaster for the family? Watch Nanny McPhee to find out in an entertaining way that the whole family will enjoy.moreless
