Napoleon & Samantha is a 1972 adventure drama directed by Bernard McEveety. In the film, Napoleon (Johnny Whitaker) is an 11-year-old boy who is living with his grandfather (Will Geer). Grandpa is an unusual fellow who is very good friends with a circus clown, who owns a lion. When the clown must return to Europe, he asks Napoleon and his grandfather to look after the lion. The duo enjoy caring for the lion, until grandpa dies from old age. Fearing he will be sent to an orphange if he calls the authorities, he reaches out to a family friend to help him bury grandpa. Once this is done, Napoleon convinces his friend, Samantha (Jodie Foster), to run away with him and the lion. The children manage to run away, but soon find themselves with a heap of problems. How long will the children and the lion be able to survive without any help from grown-ups?
