Nate And Hayes is a rousing comic swashbuckler about a crusty, seasoned pirate named Captain Bully Hayes (Tommy Lee Jones) and a stuffy young missionary named Nathaniel Williamson (Michael O'Keefe), wet behind the ears. Hayes drops off Nate and his fiancee, Sophie (Jenny Seagrove), on an island in the South Seas where they plan to set up their missionary work. Before leaving, though, Hayes tries to woo Sophie away from Nate. Although she shows some interest, she spurns his advances. After setting up their mission, the island is savagely attacked by the evil Captain Pease (Max Phipps), who kills the natives and kidnaps Sophie. Nate originally suspects Hayes of the kidnapping but eventually the two team up together to get Sophie back. If they are able to rescue her, though, who will Sophie's choice be -- Nate or Hayes? This 1983 film was directed by Ferdinand Fairfax from a screenplay by John Hughes and David O'Dell.
