Movie Summary

Director:
Harold Ramis
Released:
1983
Rating:
R

Clark Griswold is a food additives researcher and suburban family man. Eager to bond with his beautiful wife, Ellen Griswold, and his moody kids, Russel Griswold and Audrey Griswold, he packs up and drags the family out on a cross-country road trip to explore everything in the United States from Chicago, Illinois to Wally World in Los Angeles, California. Since this is a National Lampoon film and thus a comedy, it is to be expected that things do not turn out at all as Clark had expected them to. Follow the Griswolds on their epic west-bound adventure across the United States of America, as they deal with everything from a crappy rental car, to a disastrous skinny dipping experience, to some wacky relatives.

While there are few huge laughs, the very lack of pushiness in Harold Ramis's direction comes as comic relief. [8 Aug 1983, p.55]
