National Lampoon's Van Wilder is a comedy film released in 2002, featuring Ryan Reynolds as Van Wilder, a student at Coolidge College. When a reporter named Gwen (Tara Reid) from the school paper writes an article on Van, he mistakenly attempts her questioning as flirting. This in turn develops into a rivalry with Gwen's boyfriend Richard (Daniel Cosgrove), with the two playing a variety of different pranks on one another. Meanwhile, Van's father (Tim Matheson) has decided that after seven years of study and no degree, it's time to stop paying his son's tuition. As Van attempts to get his life on track and pay his tuition bills, Gwen finds herself felling frustrated with Richard, and growing more fascinated with Van. When she discovers that Richard has been trying to paint Van in a negative light, hijinks ensue as she retaliates against him. In the end, will Van's studying for finals pay off and allow him to graduate from the university? And who is going to get the girl?
