As Ace, Jack is recruited by Leo to play a terrible role in stealing a priceless Van Gogh painting. Will he assist with the art heist to please the hoods or will he find a way to drop the act? When Jack meets an art teacher, Sally Inwood (Dorothy Provine), he is tempted to take her into his confidence as well as his arms. With her help, it seems that Jack may be able to steal away from the gangsters and back to the stage. Then the real killer Ace shows up.
