Night Wind, also known as le vent de la nuit, is a French film starring Catherine Deneuve and Xavier Beauvois. This drama focuses on whether love can exist between two distant generations. When the aging yet attractive Helene (Deneuve) becomes romantically involved with a young student named Paul (Beauvois) she becomes ill with the thought that his affection might be dependent in her wealth. Although Paul has true love in his heart for Helene, her insecurities cause him to become so distant that he turns to heroin for relief. In order to evade his obsessive lover, Paul sets out on a road trip with an old revolutionary named Serg (Daniel Duval). Serg was recently released from a mental hospital after his wife committed suicide and is a well-known artist whom Paul admires. Directed by Philippe Garrel and winner of the Golden Lion award, this film features an original score from the founding member of the Velvet Underground, John Cale.
