No Good Deed is a 2002 thriller directed by Bob Rafelson and starring Samuel L. Jackson and Milla Jovovich in a story adapted from Dashiell Hammett's "The House on Turk Street," about an off-duty police detective who, after being asked to find his neighbor's troubled daughter, finds himself tied up in a sprawling and dangerous criminal plot. Jackson plays Jack Friar, a grand theft auto cop who suffers from diabetes. One evening, Friar's neighbor comes over and asks him to look in on her daughter, who is currently staying with her no-good boyfriend over on Turk Street. Friar agrees to go looking for her, but he's not on Turk street for long before somebody has a gun to his head. Trapped in a house with a gang of bad guys, Friar will have to use all his wits to make the right allies and survive the delicate situation. No Good Deed is an exciting crime drama with a talented supporting cast that includes Stellan Skarsgard, Doug Hutchison, and Joss Ackland.
