No Name on the Bullet is a psychologically driven western about a notorious gunman in town to finish off a hit. Feared gunslinger John Gant (Audie Murphy) is known throughout the land for putting bullets in people, with the death toll at 23 and counting. But while his victims all fall prey to the same predicted fate, all of Gant's killings have been legal, acting in self defense after his mark draws first. So when the legendary assassin rides into the town of Lordburg and checks into a local hotel, the townspeople are soon buzzing about the inevitable gunfight. It seems that only the town doctor Luke Canfield (Charles Drake) is free from harm, as the town's notable citizens emit more and more erratic behavior. But Gant always gets his man, so with everyone watching over their shoulder, the final fight is sure to be a good one. Jack Arnold directs this original and classic western, featuring typical good guy Murphy in a slight departure as the enigmatic villan.moreless
