No Turning Back is a suspenseful drama that tells the tale of a man being pronounced a criminal, through a series of misfortunate events. Pablo Fernandez (Jesus Nebot) illegally crosses the border into the United States in search of a better life for both himself and his five-year old daughter Cristina (Chelsea Rendon). Working illegally as a day laborer, Pablo finds himself driving his boss, Charlie's, (Joe Estevez) truck, when he accidentally hits Helen Knight (Susan Haskell). Knowing that an illegal immigrant charged with a crime of this magnitude would not last very long in the American judicial system, Fernandez picks up his daughter and decides to return to Mexico. As if fleeing the scene of a crime was not enough, Fernandez must now also stay one step ahead of detective Bryan (Vernee Watson-Johnson) who is hot on his trail. With nowhere else to turn, Fernandez turns to a freelance documentary film-maker that goes by the name Soid (Lindsay Price). Soid agrees to return Fernandez and his daughter to Mexico, but wants to document the process in the hopes of creating a successful film. Co-directed by Jesus Nebot and Julia Montejo, this 2001 mystery takes an in-depth look at illegal immigration and the American dream.moreless
