Nobody's Fool is a comedy-drama that centers on the life of an irresponsible man named Sully Sullivan (Paul Newman). Sully is in the construction business and is often at odds with a local businessman, Carl Roebuck (Bruce Willis). Adding to his troubles is the tension he has with his landlord, Miss Beryl (Jessica Tandy), and her son, Clive (Josef Summer). Sully's life is turned upside down when his estranged son, Peter (Dylan Walsh), shows up with his grandson, Will (Alexander Goodwin). Sully begins to repair his relationship with his son while creating one with his grandson. However, his plans take a turn for the worse when he is arrested for punching a police officer, Raymer (Philip Seymour Hoffman). While in jail, Sully ponders on what will happen to his life when is released from jail. Nobody's Fool was nominated for Best Writing and Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Academy Awards.
