Norman, Is that You? is a film adaptation of a 1970s two-act comedy about a couple forced to come to terms with their son's sexuality and lifestyle. After his wife Beatrice (Peral Bailey) leaves him to run off to Mexico with his brother, Ben Chambers (Redd Foxx) travels to California to visit his son Norman (Michael Warren). However, Ben is shocked to discover that not only his son is gay but he has taken a flamboyantly gay white man as a lover. Culture clash is the least of Ben's problems, as he haphazardly first tries to 'straighten' his son out in a series of comic misadventures while desperately seeking support from his estranged wife. Ultimately, it is Ben who realizes he must come to evaluate his own mindset and notions, as no matter the vast differences between the two men, bonds of family and blood run deeper than prejudices, ignorance and misunderstandings.
