Northfork is a 2003 drama about the last days of a town scheduled to be washed away after the construction of a nearby dam. In 1955, a huge hydroelectric dam is being built near the town of Northfork, Montana. Knowing that a flood is imminent, most of the town's residents have decided to leave. A few oddballs, however, have decided to stay behind. Walter O'Brien (James Woods) and his son, Willis O'Brien (Mark Polish), have been dispatched to Northfork to help evacuate the remaining stragglers. Walter has also come to exhume his wife's coffin so that it can be relocated before Northfork is flooded. The remaining residents include Father Harlan (Nick Holte), a pastor who is caring a young boy named Irwin (Duel Farnes), who appears to be on his deathbed. Another group of residents have holed up in a bar and plan to stay until the end. As Walter and Willis struggle to empty the town before it is too late, these last few residents try to show them what it means to fight for one's home.moreless

Love it or hate it, Northfork is a cinematic vision (visually and textually) unlike any with which most moviegoers, even arthouse regulars, will be familiar.
