Nosferatu: Original Version was released in 1922 and is a close adaptation of the novel Dracula by Bram Stoker. In the film, Thomas Hutter (Gustav von Wangenheim) is sent to Transylvania by his employer, Knock (Alexander Granach) to see a new client, Graf Orlok (Max Schreck). He is warned by the citizens of a nearby village not to visit Orlock, but Hutter goes ahead anyway. Leafing through a book about vampires, Hutter begins to suspect that Orlock is himself a vampire, and his true nature is revealed that night when Orlock enters Hutter's room and bites him. Hutter escapes the castle the next day and heads home. Little does he know that Orlock, who has fallen in love with Hutter's wife Ellen (Greta Schroder), is heading in the same direction. When Orlock arrives, he leaves a trail of the dead behind him. Knock, who is driven mad by Orlock, is suspected of the murders. Hutter and Ellen formulate a plan to kill the ancient vampire, but will they be able to complete it?moreless
