Not Love Just Frenzy (Mas que amor, frenes') is a sexually-charged 1996 Spanish film created by Pel'culas Fren'ticas, a creative collaboration between directors Alfonso Albacete, Miguel Bardem and David Menkes. This ultra hip 1996 film follows several morally depraved twenty-something-year olds as they forage through a European nightclub in search of crude love, drugs and other things devious in nature. Not Love Just Frenzy cleverly encapsulates every character typically found in a 90's club scene - the tawdry drag queen, the flashy male gigolo, the overtly masculine lesbian lover - all of whom are under the influence of some kind of drug. The film stars several Spanish gems, some of whom are now big namers in Hollywood including Penelope Cruz (Vanilla Sky, Volv'r) and Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, The Sea Inside). Not Love Just Frenzy offers an exceptional portrayal of the empty people whose sole purpose is hitting the club and having a good time. A must see for all those who enjoy Almodovar and other bizarre Spanish film.moreless
