Not Your Typical Bigfoot Movie is a documentary filmed in rural Appalachian, Ohio. Two amateur Bigfoot researchers, Dallas Gilbert and Wayne Burton, who are starving and struggling to survive in a dying steel town, chase after their dreams of finding Bigfoot, hoping that their hobby can become the means to earn a living. As they trace the historical record of Bigfoot around the world and reported sightings in the Appalachian foothills, they find a lasting friendship. They collect an extensive library of photographs, video footage and carefully recorded evidence that Bigfoot exists. Their life work, dreams of success and friendship are tested when a well known Bigfoot specialist from California comes to town. Though the film does contain a lot of factual information about the Bigfoot legend, it is more about the drive to find a way out of poverty after a lifetime of struggle. The film was directed by Jay Delaney and released in 2008.
