Billy Zane (Titanic) and Patrick Bergin (Sleeping with the Enemy) star in this timeless comedy that proves, in love and taxes, honesty isn't always the best policy. The small town of Putterton has managed to avoid all the troubles associated with modern life, such as crime and high prices. But when the new tax man arrives in the form of an ambitious, young and beautiful inspector, Caroline DeVille, the town's idyllic lifestyle is turned upside down. Despite George Putter's (Zane) best efforts, he cannot keep her from discovering the town's dirty little secret... they haven't paid a dime in taxes since World War II! As she goes on an auditing rampage and bankruptcy threatens the town, Vernon Fry (Bergin), President of the giant discount chain, Consumer City, steps forward and offers to pay their debt on the condition that he set up shop in Putterton. Fearing the giant will ruin what's left of the town's old fashioned ways, George and Caroline manage to put aside their differences and unite to combat the corporate Goliath but find more than bargained for!moreless
